Tarrafal Sands Property Development

West of the village of Tarrafal north Coast

Tarrafal Sands Development, Tarrafal, Santiago

Tarrafal is a two hour drive, partly over slow, twisting cobbled roads through the mountains from Praia. It is a fishing village on the North Coast of Santiago, with a fine beach. Some Praia residents are building weekend homes here along the cliffs. But so far the village has attracted mostly local tourists from Praia It is the best seaside spot on the island. The Peninsula resort has plans for 40 semi-detached 2 bedroom villas and a 244 bed hotel on the cliffs which line the edge of the bay at Tarrafal. No doubt, the eventual aim is that the hotel, if it should be succesful, will lease back some of the villas. Unfortunately, of two existing hotels one has closed its restaurant, whilst the other a Club Med style beach hut complex has kept its restaurant overlooking the beach for coach parties from Praia but closed its beach huts. Things can only improve if more European tourists arrive.
