Apartments in Santa Maria close to the beach
Santa Maria has many restaurants and bars and few mini-marts where
you can buy frozen meat, fresh fish and vegetables and freshly baked
bread. Self-catering is feasible if you are happy to eat local produce
- mostly tuna, shellfish and fresh vegetables. Some apartments on
offer do not have electricity or water connected. Many others lack
proper furniture and appliances.

Black Point flats/apartments
Santa Maria edging onto the beach and running 50m back from it,
some with seaviews, some partial view.
Set just across the road from the Beach on the eastern side of
town. These are large flats with a large,open communal roof terrace
area, which has views of the sea. They are nicely furnished with
Italian chairs and tables and kitchen equipment. There is a manager
on site during working hours. They can sleep two or three in a bedroom
and one more in the large living room area. Prices from £280
pw, but 15% more in High Season. The largest flat which sleeps up
to 7 packed in like sardines in two bedrooms costs £553pw or
£584pw in High Season.

"The apartment was ideally located, close enough (everything is
close on this island really!) to go in town for diner or shopping
without taking the car but quiet enough to put our heads down at
night. We got friendly with one of the security guards for another
residence and he was looking out for us bless him! He even invited
us to a Gambian diner he'd made for his birthday! He showed us pictures
of his wife and daughter, a lovely guy. "
When she visited again for the second time she added
" We liked the apartment itself very much; it was quiet
but close enough to all amenities which was why we decided to go
back there this year. The location is perfect for us to check out
the surf in Santa Maria, the pontoon and close enough to Ponta Preta.
Then if there is no surf we can move on to explore further up the
coast towards Murdeira and Leao Mountain or on the other side of
the island.
We love the apartments, their location is perfect for us and they
are well equipped. We wouldn’t want to stay in a hotel; we’d
rather be in self catering accommodation. We go to the restaurant
every day and every evening but it’s nice to have breakfast
and make a cup of tea when you want! The apartments are clean, spacious,
quiet and ideally located. We really liked staying there each time
we went to Sal. The cute kitten was an added bonus! I hope he will
still be there when we return…"

Morabessa flats/apartments
Newly built just behind the hotel and across the road these offer
either one or two bedrooms at prices from £396 to £660
pw for the one bedroom to £528 to £880 for the two bedroom.
They are much better furnished thamn most Santa Maria apartments
and allow full use of all the facilities in the hotel.
Porto Antigo - Old Tuna port flats/apartments
These flats are in a fine position near Papaya`s but can be noisy
and very cramped indeed. The beds are uncomfortable . Few go twice.
Boa Vista flats/apartments
Just back from the beach at Estoril Beach , the flats can accommodate
up to 4 people. Prices range from £462 for a single person
in a one room studio to £1565 for 4 adults in a two room flat..
