Morabeza Beach Resort Development

On cliffs Above Sao Francisco Beach, Santiago

Outline planning consent was granted in December 2007 for a small tourist development the Morabeza Beach resort on the cliffs above Sao Francisco beach on Santiago, Cape Verde. Detailed planning approval is expected during 2009.

Morabeza beach resort proposes 300 two and three bedroom apartments, 14 Villas and a small hotel with 28 bedrooms. Morabeza beach resort prices have been increased from £115,000 to a high £169,000 for apartments of just 92 sqm with another 92sq m of open space. Morabeza beach resort Villas are priced between £340,00 and £365,000 - very high prices for a remote spot . This hike is in spite of the credit crunch.,

The position of Morabeza beach resort is below Sambala down towards the beach and further around on the cliffs to the North. There is no date set as yet for building to start and that will need detailed planning permission, which Morabeza beach resort may not have secured.

Some agent`s photos show a beach which is not in Cape Verde

The Morabeza beach resort site suffers along with Sambala and the Casa Group`s Sao Francisco development from very poor access along a dreadful road. No doubt this will be resurfaced in due course. One of the promoters, Trevor Reece a Shropshire financial advisor, claims in an obvious reference to Sambala

"While some may argue that the beach here is shorter, one thing is clear: Morabeza Beach Resort will be the ONLY development directly on it. No other competition for direct access to the beach, and no one in front."

The Morabeza beach resort developer a Santiago based company still hopes to raise finance for the project, despite the credit crunch. It is also offerred as a 4-week time share at a stunning £49,000.

The Morabeza Beach Resort does not yet have funding to build

M from Yorks finds a dearth of information on Morabeza beach resort

"Does any one have any info on the proposed new development on Santiago, Cape Verde? It is called the Morabeza Beach Resort. I have requested a brochure but if anyone has any info it would be gratefully received."

S from Yorks liks the position

"I have seen the Morabeza beach Resort site and im sorry but i cant see the negatives, credit crunch or no credit crunch, this is on the beach, i have placed a res fee on a frontline villa and for my money this will be worth far more than i paid for it in ten years time. Can you imagine buying beachfront in the Canaries 10 years ago or even 20, what would that be worth now?"
