The unreliability and dfficulty of booking inter-island flights have deterred many from visiting more than one island. But the opening of international airports on Boa Vista, Santiago and Sao Vicente now make this simpler. However it is vital to plan to visit islands which have good flight links. Here is a selection of itineraries which should be possible over one or two weeks. Prices are from the starting point of a Cape Verde aiport. Long-haul fares from Europe are additional and not included.
Best Beaches of Cape Verde
Fly in to Boa Vista and stay at the beautiful Praia de Chaves at the Parque das Dunas and then a short internal flight to the Morabessa, the best hotel, on Santa Maria Beach Return flight from Sal.
Best Hotels of Cape Verde
Fly into Sal and stay at the Morabessa on Santa Maria Beach and then an internal flight to Sao Vicente to stay at the Foya Branca on Sao Pedro Beach. Return via Sal.
Village and Mountain of Cape Verde
Fly into Santiago and drive through the mountains to the attractive fishing village of Tarrafal, staying on Tarrafal Beach and then take the flight to Fogo and stay at the Hotel Jaguar overlooking the ocean and visit the live volcano.
Walk and Watch in Cape Verde
Fly in to Sal and stay at the Atlantico in Espargos, then to the Foya Branca on Sao Pedro Beach and on to the Pedracin Ranch by ferry from Mindelo and a spectacular drive through the mountains with amazing views of Santa Antao. Return via Sal and Sao Vicente.
Half Board £165 one week £330 two weeks. Full Board £330 one week, £660 two weeks extra per person. Children under 12 half price on Half or Full Board. Full price on inter-island fllights but half price on accommodation if sharing a room with two adults. Infants £60.
With taxi transfers and airport charges it typically costs £200 per person to visit a second island although Boa Vista and Sal costs only £140, For a third island it can cost less by making use of a multi-flight pass, normally available with flights from Lisbon. Santa Antao costs at least £300 to reach and requires to nights on Sao Vicente en route. Fogo costs £300 and requires two nights on Santiago en route.
Ferries except that between Sao Vicente and Santa Antao are not practical for tourists as the schedules are so unreliable.
