Cape Verde charm Boutique hotelsSmall family run hotels with masses of charm in the Cape Verde islandsWe have visited all the islands and picked out the small hotels which really appealed to us. Each has the mark of its owner who lives in the hotel and takes extra care of his guests. For those who do not want to stay in the sun factories, this is the ideal choice. You can visit two in a week or all three in two weeks. They are basic but clean and comfortable, with happy, friendly environments and only 10-20 rooms. Here you will escape the Ibiza and Tenerife tourists. We can arrange bookings and transfers. Hotel Alice SalThe French architect who owns it designed it with hints of New Orleans. It has an open terrace for the best croissants and coffee in Sal . In the heart of Santa Maria, it is surrounded by plenty of good, simple restaurants, French , Italian and Cape Verdean The hotel is very well ventilated and so needs no air-conditioning even in the hottest months. Rooms are fairly small and basic but have quirky eaves and nice verandahs. /p> D from Belgium found it good value"We stayed in a "sea view" room: directly under the roof, with a big terrace overlooking the main street . Breakfast is served outdoors: on the terrace, by the lady of the house herself: Mrs Josée. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay here again, even if it is not the cheapest in town it offers definitely the best price-quality ratio, "Price per person per day £30 in double room Hotel Orchid Boa VistaRun by Gerry, a Flemish sailor and his Cape Verdean wife who have converted their home into the shady small hotel this has views across the Sal Rei bay to Sal Rei island. I He owns parrots and cats and a shady garden makes an ideal you can take breakfast and drinks. Gerry is expert on all aspects of Cape Verdean life. If you are lucky he might take you for a sail. Breakfast is Dutch style bread and cheese but with nice fresh fruit and good coffee. P&T from London liked the menagerie "The hotel has a small courtyard surrounded by a high wall with greenery and plants in abundance, so feels very secure and leafy on the inside. The location is very good for getting into the town of Sal Rei. We counted quite a few pets in and around the hotel when we were there including a tortoise, 2 large talking parrots, dogs, cats and fish. There is a pizzeria and a friendly bar with food nearby. The Shell garage sells basics at all hours. "Price per person per day £37-43 according to season in double room, Hotel Loutcha Sao VicenteMme Loutcha cooks perhaps the best food in Mindelo, with cuisine learned from her years in French Senegal. On Sundays you can join other guests at a beach barbecue in Calheta, Most nights a local group of violin, guitar and accordion will play the music that Mindelo is famous for. Bed rooms are mostly large but old-fashioned a little dark and gloomy but perfectly comfortable and quiet. The plumbing is also old but seems to work most of the time. Madame is always on hand to sort things out. T from Portugal enjoyed the ambience"the most fun I ever had during dinner. We had dinner with live music. Excellent songs and musicians. Just loved it.."Price per person £20 per day in double room... Hotel and Flight Quotation |
